Tostadas also tasted and smelled like the tortilla was fried in very old oil.
Good food. Large portions at a reasonable price. Service was ok. It is now under new management and is being remodeled, which it sorely needed.
:::Update::: Found a piece of metal could be from a pan scrubber but I found it in my son's pancake as I was cutting it into pieces for him. The piece of metal also had a little piece of hair attached to it... Yuck! El Coronado has really gone downhill in quality since the original owners are not there anymore! Salsa tastes like they use loads of cumin in it...
I remember why I haven't been here in over a year.
Oh by the way not even compensating us a penny. I hope I remember why it will be a year of avoidance next time.

Sorry for the rambling but it makes me sad that there is a lack of caring.
Can't say much. Two tables had people when we showed up. We ordered, took them 10 minutes to realize they were out of what we ordered, change it and after 40 minutes we paid for drinks and left. Ridiculous. ONE of the tables there before us got their food and it came out staggered over a period of at least 10 minutes (we kept thinking ours was coming out)! NOT a place to go on a lunch break. I wouldn't even go here for dinner.

Like so many small towns in Arizona, Safford has its very own 1960's cafe complete with shiny red booth and a long, long counter for single seating. The food is good, it certainly will hit the spot, however El Coronado is best as a breakfast place. Seems the customer numbers agrees.
The cheese enchaladas were okay.
